Lagos and speed skating: a 21-year-old connection

In 2026, Lagos hosts the 21st edition of Terras do Infante, one of the most prestigious competitions of the Speed Track European Series. Throughout its history, this event has received more than 6000 skaters and hundreds of sports clubs from all over the world.
In its latest edition, 670 athletes from 15 different countries competed in Lagos on an urban circuit full of challenging curves and with a final stretch by the beach. More than 3000 spectators saw the races and hotels and restaurants have registered full capacity on that weekend.
Over the course of 21 editions, Lagos has seen more than 200 circuit records being broken, speeds reaching around 50km/h. The mild climate, the proximity of the public and the unique urban layout make every race an exciting and unpredictable event.
Terras do Infante is more than just a competition: it’s an experience that combines sports and city tourism. Each edition attracts visitors from all over Europe and offers the unique opportunity to know Lagos while having a first-hand experience of international adrenaline, speed and technique. Over the course of 21 editions, the competition has helped enhance the city’s appeal.
